RIPDAYDREAM: I just want to congratulate you on your new project 'WORSTAPES v1". This is a project where you don't skip one song and are pissed you have to wait for the next release. I want you to start at the beginning conception of this project and how this all came to be.
Xander Hill: This summer I dropped a song that switched up my whole style called "3rd Degree", Prod. By my brudda Straxx and Sapjer, it received a lot of love, and I thought to myself what if I did a whole tape? Right then and there I texted Straxx and asked him for beats got the first 2 songs done and it was just up from there.

RIPDAYDREAM: I genuinely can't pick a favorite of the project. I wish we could talk about them all, but splitting my decision between ''3rd Degree'' and ''BlowlikeTNT'', how did you decide on the production and lyrics for these? Would love to know your creative process for making these songs.
Xander Hill: Crazy thing is I heard a snippet of the beat for it and it wasn’t even finished and I had already made the hook. Literally just freestyling around my house listening to it over and over again. And after that I unlocked this flow where I swear I made half the tape in this mode. Blow like tnt was one of those beats you had saved and forgot about and went back to it and knew exactly how to jump on it. Crazy think is I really just freestyle like 80% of my songs. Very rarely now do I have to sit down and write. But I will if I feel like I should. But a lot of times I just freestyle about what’s going on in my life or how I’m feeling and the beat just speaks to me and tells me what to say.
RIPDAYDREAM: Something that stands out to me that I always look for in artists is their voice. Your voice is super unique to me and just fits perfectly with the sound you developed for this project. How do you think your voice and music have changed from when you first started?
Xander Hill: Shit honestly my music has changed so much. One thing I never wanted to do was be put in a box, where people can say I only do this flow or only hop on these types of beats. I went from a super classic Boom bap style to singing and an experimental sound that I have now, and I finally feel like I’ve mastered my voice and its range with what I can do with it. This year I’m excited to explore that even more.

RIPDAYDREAM: Something that goes unnoticed a lot is cover art. The epic scene you chose for 'WORSTAPES v1' could not have been more perfect for the aesthetic of the songs. How did you land on this artwork for the project?
Xander Hill: So I actually posted on my story and @nokesie_hmu said he could whip something up for me. I sent him some Renaissance paintings of what they thought hell looked like and told him that’s what the inspiration is. And 20-30 minutes later he came back and sent me this. Knew right then and there that, that was the cover. We tried to put a title but I honestly felt like the cover spoke for itself so I released it just like that.
RIPDAYDREAM: Now that I have finished being a fanboy, where do you see yourself going with your career? Who is Xander Hill and what do you want your audience to take away from your music?
Xander Hill: Hahaha love the real ass questions though. Shit man I see myself doing a lot of things with my career I have a lot of ideas and creative direction I just would say I need some guidance like a manager. So this year I’m focusing on bringing Xander Hill to the world. But I already have a lot of big things planned even without a manager don’t worry. But Xander Hill has always been an artist for the people to be honest. I really started making music to reach out to the people who feel how I feel cuz at some point music saved my life and I wanted to be able to say that I did the same for someone else. One thing I want the audience to take away from my music is to never doubt yourself or what you’re doing because everyone already is! You have to be the one who believes in you because, at the end of the day, that’s the only thing that matters. Stay true to yourself and everything will come with time.

RIPDAYDREAM: Can you give us a sneak peek into any upcoming projects or collaborations you're working on?
Xander Hill: Got a lot of fire features coming out this year with Jackdakidd, for his tape. For me personally, I always got some singles for after the hype of the tape starts to die down. And working on "Worst Generation pt 2" album this year and a lil secret project as well.
